Best Bottled Pesto
I've tried a couple different pesto sauces including classico pesto and some packaged pesto and they were crap compared to making a fresh batch which I've made many times. I saw this in store and I thought why not since I was lazy. This pesto tastes soo fresh like I just made it and tastes just as fresh after sitting in the fridge for weeks. Pine nuts! The best.
This is far and away the best bottled pesto I've tried, and I've tried quite a few. Alessi is one of the last manufacturers to continue using the traditional but now very expensive pine nuts, which I believe is essential for a great pesto sauce. Many of the other manufacturers have switched to cashew nuts or walnuts in recent years, much to their detriment. I buy these by the dozen.

This pesto paste is so incredibly convenient, tasty, and versatile. As someone who suffers from dairy sensitivity, I was enthused to find a GOOD VEGAN pesto product! This is coming from someone who is an authentic Italian who grew up on homemade goods. Maybe the previous users who disliked it weren't using good, quality olive oil? Just a thought. As it turns out Basil is extremely healthy and is listed on the World's Healthiest Foods list (google it)I haven't tried this as plain pesto but I have added it toMarinara sauce, beef and barley soup, and chicken barley soup, black bean and tempeh burrito fillings, and probably more things as I just grab stuff as I cook.I also have the tomato paste in a tube and it is good too, so much better than those silly cans where you have to decide of you want to refrigerate the leftovers or use the whole can when the recipe only calls for 2 tbs. Best pesto sauce in a package mix!
We love this pesto sauce mix and it's hard to find at our local grocery store so I get it from Amazon. This is the only pesto mix that my kids like!! They've eaten it since they were small and now they want it at college :-) No spinach in this one (Knorr's has that) so it's a simple basil product. If we don't have time to puree basil leaves or find the right spices, this package mix is a great substitute. Top to learn more

Great flavor, convenient, but has MSG and nitrites
We love pesto sauce on pasta, and on nights when I can't make my own from scratch I love having a package of the mix waiting for me.This sauce tastes good, and has recognizable pieces of basil in it, but I won't buy it again because of the ingredients. Pesto sauce is supposed to be basil, olive oil, garlic and salt, and not much else. This product has "Beef, Mechanically Separated Chicken Water, Salt, Corn Syrup, Flavorings, Dextrose, Paprika, Hydrolyzed Corn Gluten, Soy and Wheat Gluten Proteins, Sodium Nitrite, Lactic Acid Starter Culture." Just the words "mechanically separated chicken water" put me completely off of this product. Hydrolyzed corn gluten is a fancy name for MSG It also has 480 mg of salt in each serving - each package having 3+ servings.I like McCormick's spices, but I'll be looking for a more natural pesto sauce mix next time.Edited 27Apr2012 to add: Thank you to Jonathan (see his comments below my review) for suggesting... Pretty in Pesto
Maybe it was the long winter without end. Or the snowstorm in late April. Or, belonging to a Food blog where we talked about pesto for 3 pages.However, while visiting an herb site, I found a link for this book and without hestitation, ordered it from Amazon. I've had it two days, and have made four of the pestos and 6 of the dishes...need I say more....it's FABULOUS!!!Classic pesto, sage pesto, anchovy pesto...the list goes on and on. Dairy-Free Delicious!
If you are on a dairy-free diet, this quick pesto sauce is for you! Just add the olive oil & water. My gluten-free, dairy-free son loves this sauce on rice penne pasta. It has a bit of a strong taste, so you can adjust the amount you use -- I personally use 1 envelope per box/bag of pasta (ignoring the instructions to use only 6 oz. of pasta). In my local store, 1 envelope can be $2-3, and not always available, so this is a much better deal (12 packets for $15.51 plus super saver shipping) for a product we use weekly. If you like the Knorr brand (contains dairy), you will probably like this. However, if you are picky about your pesto (use only jarred/fresh, make-your-own) this may disappoint, you should buy just 1 packet to try from your local store before you purchase a bulk item, but it pleases my family.** If you have corn allergy/intolerance, this product is not for you. Simple, Tasty Pesto Sauce
This is a very tasty pesto sauce that is very simple to make. We usually follow the simple directions and perhaps add some grated nuts of our choice for texture. Then toss in the pasta. It's handy to have it around the kitchen in dry form. My wife loves the fact that it's organic. I love the fact that it is not overly garlicky. Sometimes when we are out of olive oil, it still tastes great with regular vegetable oil, as well. Definitely a family pleaser in our household. Top to learn more

Delicious, and MSG free!
I bought this pesto mix after writing a review complaining about another pesto sauce that was full of artificial ingredients and MSG. I took a chance on buying this 12-pack, and I'm really happy I did.The ingredients are: Organic Basil, Organic Potato Starch (thickener), Organic Maltodextrin (a thickener), Sea Salt, Organic Garlic, Citric Acid, Organic Black Pepper, Silicon Dioxide (makes product free flowing).I fixed some the day I got my order, and everyone raved about the fresh basil flavor of it. It's not overly salty like so many products, and you can see actual pieces of basil in it. It has a slightly mint undertone, but it compliments the basil. What You Might Be Missing Most asparagus we buy at the store have pretty thick, woody stalks. We like our tender and those thick, woody stalks don’t really help us with that.
Unlike traditional garlic you buy from the supermarket, which comes in good sized bulbs, wild garlic has tiny bulbs which are fiddly to harvest. The flowers are lovely additions to salads, whilst the leaves are great served raw, steamed in the same way as spinach or whizzed up into a delicious pesto sauce which can be used on pasta, fish or meat.
I was thinking of making pesto sauce or just buy that’s already made but I kind of hesitant to do it. It’s because it might not taste good. I had the best pesto sauce that my mother in-law made. Now, I’m so picky when it comes pesto sauce. This plan sounds really good to me. We cannot really go out to dinner because we have a toddler and nobody is going to be able to babysit him.
I buy Max little dish meals for days when he can't eat our dinners, but having tasted them myself I find them very bland - he is used to our food full of herbs/spices etc (he has just finished off a homemade chilli that was too hot for me... We have made our range of food "grown up food" for little ones. So without compromising on flavour we have made dishes without salt and any flavourings that are still very tasty. did you get to have a little nibble of this range to see how tasty they really was.
